Frequently Asked Winter League Questions

Question

Answer

Who can participate?

Anyone who lives in the GELC boundaries. A coach can take players from any GELC club to make a team. Those players are still required for spring lacrosse to register in their home community

How is a team entered into the league ?

A Coach with the minimum requirement of Competitive Introduction in training is required to form a team of 9 runners and 1 goalie, he would enter the team with the GELC on the form required.

How are players registered?

Once the coach has entered the team and it is accepted into the league a link to the ramp registration system will be forwarded to him to send to his players and to register to a team that contains the coaches  last name in it.

What Covid restrictions will be in place?

Our divisions will be limited to a four team cohort, 4 teams of 12 individuals and 2 officials for each game. Scorekeepers will be required to social distance.

All ALA covid protocols will be followed. The head coach is responsible at each event to ensure that the players coaches and officials have completed the covid questions prior to entering the playing surface.

Players are in a contact covid, no social distancing so may only participate at this time in one sport cohort, that is not social distancing.

The GELC executive recommends the use of the Alberta Government Tracing App. for players, coaches and parents.

What if my child would like to play and no coach has approached him, or her

Any individual wanting to participate can contact the GELC office, we will have a list of players and coaches, and send players parents information on coaches looking for additional players. Should we get enough players in a division to offer a team, we would find a coach for the team.

No registration monies will change hands until a child is placed on a team. All payments go to the head coach who will pay for the team entry fee.

What Age Division would my child be in?
