Division Playing Nights and League Information

Timbits Mini Tykes

 

Games are structured in accordance with the Long Term Athlete Development Program of Canadian Lacrosse Association

as indicated in the CLA Rule Book. Option L

Games are played with smaller nets and on half the playing surface.

All GELC mini tyke divisions and teams will have a practice/game scheduled at their home arena on Wednesday evenings probably between  6 to 7 pm.

All teams will participate in three games against other teams, based on closest geography and these games will be played on three Saturdays or perhaps one Sunday, thru the season. 

The 2018 Wrap Up Weekend for the Season will  on the Weekend of June 16th and 17th at the Timbits Mini Tyke Wrap up which will occur at the East Soccer Centre just north of Yellowhead Trail on Victoria Trail.

Timbits Tyke

Timbits Tyke Lacrosse will practice within their local club.

Timbits Tyke Lacrosse will be played as per the Canadian Lacrosse Association Rule Book Option L

The Tyke leagues play on Tuesday and or Thursday evenings.Tyke gamescan start at any time between a 6 pm and a 7 pm start. Ending between 7 pm and 8 pm. Where ever possible 6 pm is used as the start time for tyke games but if there are back to back tyke games at an arena one team will start at 7 pm.  

There may be an odd game on a Saturday.

Timbits Tyke Lacrosse will practice within their local club.

Leagues are set up geographically to make travel easier for parents. Typically there are three divisions of teams.

 

The 2017 season will start Tuesday April 16,or Thursday April 18.There will be weekend games for Westlock and Grande Prairie. 

On the weekend of June 16th and 17th the Timbits Tyke Wrap Up will occur at the East Soccer Centre just north of YellowheadTrail on Victoria Trail.

 All tyke teams are invited to participate in the Alberta Lacrosse Association Tyke Festival in Calgary the third weekend of July. 

Novice Lacrosse

Both boys and girls novice lacrosse will be played on Tuesday and or Thursday evening.

They may have games scheduled on the weekend, as we have teams from Westlock and Grande Prairie in the league and they require weekend games,or to get the schedules in complete we may require weekend games. 

Start times for novice typically start at any time between 6 pm and 7:00 pm on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. End times would be betweeen 7 and 8 pm.

On weekends any time from 9 am in the morning. (there may be a possibility of a 7:30 pm start but it would not be the norm)

League play starts is the Tuesday April 16th  and ends by June 21th. Playoffs commence on June 25th and will be completed by July 11th, there will be on games on weekends. 

Games are 1 hour long.

Please note in the novice boys division teams are rescheduled part way thru the season approximately at the long weekend of May.They move into divisions based on team ability and no longer geographic. To start the season they are placed in divisions geographically.

Girls divisions all teams play against all teams in the league due to numbers of teams.

League play starts is the Tuesday April 16th  and ends by June 21th. Playoffs commence on June 25th and will be completed by July 11th, there will be on games on weekends. 

For 2018 the ALA provincial festival will be in Calgary July 13,14,15. 

All teams may enter the ALA novice Festival. 

Pee Wee Lacrosse

Pee Wee Lacrosse is played in tiers A,B,C

A will play on Monday , Wednesday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday are possible.

 B division will play on Tuesday or Thursday, the possiblity of a Friday, Saturday or Sunday game as well, Teams from Grande Prairie and Westlock participate in the league

C Division will play on Monday , Wednesday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday possibly.

All pee wee games may start any time between 6 pm and 8:15 pm, ending from 7:15 pm to 9:30 pm.

Games are 1.15 hour long

Girls Divisions all play against all the teams in the league due to smaller number of teams.Girls will play Monday, Wednesday, possibly Friday, Saturday or Sunday if required. 

Playoffs will commence after June 25th and finish by July 11, with no weekend games in that time period.. Playoffs will be a double knock out competition.

All teams in the division are welcome to enter to compete in provincials in Calgary July 13,14,15.

Bantam Lacrosse

 

Bantam lacrosse is played in tiers A,B,C

A will play on Tuesday or Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday if required.

B division will play on Monday,Wednesday,Friday,Saturday,or Sunday if required.

C Division will play on Tuesday, or Thursday, Friday,Saturday or Sunday if required.

Teams will participate in the league from Grande Prairie and Westlock.

All bantam games will have start times between 6 pm and 8:30 pm. Games will end between 7:30 pm and 10 pm. Games are 1.50 hours long.

Please note for 2018 playing date movement may occur due to playing surface availability. 

Girls Divisions all play against all the teams in the league due to smaller number of teams. Bantam Girls will play Tuesday or Thursday, possibly Friday , Saturday or Sunday if required.

Playoffs will commence June 25th and finish by the 11 of July. They will be a double knock out competition.

All teams may enter provincials in Calgary July 13,14,15 of 2018.

Midget Lacrosse

A,B

Midget Lacrosse will play any night or on weekends.

In the A division a team from Saskatchewan will be participating.

In the B division teams from Westlock and Grande Prairie will be participating.

All Midget games will have start times between 6 pm and 9:00 pm. End times will be between 7:30 pm and 10:30 pm. Games are 1.5 hours in lenght

Girls Divisions all play against all the teams in the league due to smaller number of teams.

Playoffs will commence  June 25th and finish by July 11 with no weekend games. They will be a double knock out competition.

 All teams are welcome to enter provincials on the 13,14,15 of July in Calgary.

Post Midget Lacrosse

The GELC will be hosting 4 zone post midget teams should registrations permit, they will play on Monday evenings and practice one night during the week. No provincials and no tournaments. But they will play 12 games, and league playoffs commencing on June 25th with no weekend play and ending by July 11th. 

Junior Lacrosse

Junior Lacrosse falls under the jurisdiction of the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Association, In Edmonton and surrounding communities there are two Junior A teams the Miners and Blues.Four Junior B Tier One teams, the Crude, Warriors,Rebels,and Titans. Several Junior B Tier Two teams, Warriors, Crude Wizards,Titans. 

Junior Ladies have three teams, The Saints, Drillers and Titans

Senior Lacrosse

Senior Lacrosse falls under the jurisdiction of the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League as well.  In Edmonton and surrounding communities there are three Senior B clubs, The Warriors, St. Albert Miners, and  Outlaws.

In Senior C action the area is represented by the Senior C Warriors.

Senior Ladies are represented by the Bandits and Sherwood Park Titans. 

Masters Lacrosse

Master lacrosse for those over 35 is ran by the Edmonton Masters Lacrosse League.

Ladies Masters are available as well.
