The Board of Directors reviewed and commented on the Team Spectator Liaison’s at Monday May 1 Board of Directors meeting.
The Board is in agreement that the position will help the sport of lacrosse in the long term. In the short term we are struggling to get the message out and received by the teams.
Team Spectator Liaisons are required at all games GELC teams take part in Edmonton, out of Edmonton and in all tournaments they attend.
Team Spectator Liaison’s are to introduce themselves to the other teams Liaison and the officials before the commencement of the game.
The Team spectator Liaison is to be visible in the stands with the arm band on so that they can be identified if required. Board members will be in arenas monitoring games as well.
They are only to speak with the other teams Liaison in regards to opposing team parent behaviours not take it upon themselves to monitor the other team.
If there is an unruly spectator not attached to either team, both spectator liaison’s should work together to ask for cooperation from that individual.
Above anything else we want the Liaison’s to be safe if worse case scenarios happy it is in order to call the police to assist with the problem.
A reminder to coaches that we need their help to change the game as well and behaviour changes are needed on many benches as well as in the stands, please be a leader in helping Change the Game.
